It is with great sadness that we must announce the closing of this restaurant.
Donna Gibbons, the owner and granddaughter of Mary Farrington Natale for whom
the restaurant was named, died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 12, 2011.
Donna's sweet
sauce, which she called the Maria sauce, was based on a recipe she and her
grandmother prepared together from the time Donna was a toddler. Many of
Donna's pre-school hours were spent in the care of
her maternal grandmother while her parents both worked.
I'm sure Donna
would want us to thank the many loyal customers who ultimately became
friends as they visited her restaurant. And, she would want us to mention
her concern for her furry friends and the Terre Haute Humane Society. Any
volunteer help or contribution to this important organization would be greatly
appreciated by Donna and all her friends - two-legged as well as four-legged.
